Mega Millions

My colleague told me about Mega Millions today, that the jackpot swelled up to $94 million. She and I visited the website and cracked up laughing when we saw my big ol’ head smiling at the bottom left-hand corner there. The website got me thinking: what would I do if I won the lottery? First, [...]

Fashion Shoot with Model: Megan

For the last six weeks, I have had something like writer’s block for photographers: I guess you can call it “photographer’s block.” I knew I did not want to shoot another photo with a seamless background, and I wanted to take advantage of shooting outdoors. I faced two issues with the latter:
1. Access
2. Bad weather
I [...]

How to Photograph Waterfalls & Streams

I do not consider myself a nature photographer, but I can appreciate a good piece from Mother Nature when I see it! Even though I prefer shooting people, I could not resist taking pictures of the beautiful waterfalls at Rickett’s Glen in Pennsylvania. We traveled three hours away from [...]

Two Special Ladies

I attended my cousin’s wedding this weekend, and while I didn’t take any pictures during the ceremony or reception (contractual issues with the pro wedding photographer), I did snap a few photos before the festivities began. Meet two special ladies, my mother and my grandmother. Aren’t they lovely?
The wedding took place at the Century City [...]

Setting the Mood: Music on Set

I recently discovered Lady Gaga (I know, welcome to 2008), and while I spun around to “Just Dance,” this morning, I realized the importance of music during a photoshoot. Music, like lighting, helps set the mood for a photoshoot. Lady Gaga’s music, for example, has a nice upbeat tempo for photoshoots—definitely an asset in getting [...]
