Canon Lens of the Month!

Read my interview at the Canon Digital Learning Center this month! The article features my experience with the Canon EF 100 mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens. I explain in detail why I love the camera and how I tricked it out as the “Swiss Army Knife” of all lenses. The Canon website features five photographs from my experiment with the lens, and the images demonstrate its versatility. Over the next couple of days, I will create a gallery of images right here on my blog to provide even more samples of what the 100 mm Macro lens can do.

Stop by the Canon website and read the interview when you get a chance. If you were on the fence about the 100 mm Macro lens, perhaps this article will persuade you to add a new lens to your kit. If you already have the lens, then hopefully the interview will renew your passion for it. I just love the 100 mm Macro, and when you read the interview, you’ll see why!

HUGE THANKS:

- to the folks at Canon: Erika, Cheryl, and Damian, for giving me this wonderful opportunity. I had a blast on this assignment!

- to all the models and artists that made this project a dream come true: Diana Manzanares, Erin McCarthy, Nancy Lan, Amber Ahlquist, Amanda Suchy, Isabella David, Bethany Doerrer, Nikki Rose, Amber from “Nailed!”, Caterina Marie, and Doris.

- to my friend, Svit, in Slovenia for letting me borrow the 100 mm. I clearly fell in love with it.

- to my roommate, Mitesh, for being cool with crowds of people in the apartment and lights and various equipment strewn all over the floor.

- to Jon, for his patience in allowing me to stop, look and photograph anything and everything my heart desired. He was with me the first time I used the 100 mm macro (in Croatia) and assisted most of the macro makeup shots. I thank him for his undying love and support. That man has the patience of a Saint, and I’m lucky to have him by my side.

- to my mom for listening to my story ideas and for shopping with me to buy crafts and supplies. I almost went home with a handful of painted hermit crabs.

- to Stephen Eastwood for providing the photographer’s portrait. I always look my best in front of Stephen’s camera.

And most of all, thank you to Jeff Fuller for believing in me, for inspiring me, and for listening (always) to my nutty stories. I honestly could not have done this without you.

XOXO,

Amy

Congrats Amy, good read although I did find it a bit distracting having your picture on the side while trying to concentrate on the actual interview. :o ) I am curious however, did you compare this lens to the 100mm f2? I know its not a macro but it seems like a lot of lens for the money, even if its not L glass.
