Whenever I have some free time, I like to participate in some of the photography groups on Flickr. This weekend, the Pretty Pink Themed Weekend Challenge suggested a face painting theme, so I happily obliged. I never wear much pink in my day-to-day attire, but I love the way the color translates onto “film.” This project provided tons of fun.

To get in the mood for pink, I researched every little Hello Kitty image I could find. I even wallpapered Jon’s laptop with some Hello Kitty, heehee. I loved the bow that Hello Kitty wears, so I found some pink satin ribbon at the BTC City Park Mall. But then in H&M, I found a super-cute headband for only €1.90. This is the Hello Kitty inspiration I had:

Then, to follow the theme of the challenge, I did a tireless search online for face paint. I found a ton of intricate ideas that involved glitter, but I wanted to keep it simple. I knew I wanted pink, and it had to involve hearts. I then discovered this gem online and had to give props to the artist that designed it. Great idea and fun to do with Make Up For Ever flash paints:

Finally, and quite fortuitously, I stumbled upon this blog by Xia Xue. I knew I could not copy everything, so I stayed with the same theme but toned down the excitement. With all three pieces of inspiration, Jon and I created the image below. Sparklies and smiley faces and hearts, oh my! I’m such a nerd.
