What is Twitter, you ask? For those living under a rock, Twitter is—and I’ll just copy and paste its moto—a social messaging utility for staying connected in real-time.* This means you can post up-to-date notes about what you’re doing, what your momma’s doing, and what your granny’s doing. It’s more narcissistic than Myspace! And just like Myspace, I can’t help but view Twitter as a passing fad. I mean, do we really need to know about every minutia of a person’s life? Do we need to read about celebrities boinking their wives or about so-and-so’s latest bowel movement? No.

Akin to a mini-blog, Twitter is a great way to keep everyone posted on the significant events of our lives. It has a cool interface and is relatively user-friendly. I used Twitter to announce my gallery exhibit, and I’ll probably post a message about my interview on the Canon Learning Site. Other than that, though, I do not see the point of Twitter. Maybe someone will post an interesting article, maybe we will say hi to each other, but…isn’t that what Facebook already does?

I really have no business being on Twitter—I’m simply not that interesting. But I’ll play along and join the fun while it lasts, and I promise to spare you all the excruciating details. :P
