Many people have asked how I started shooting. Truthfully, I started off on the other side of the camera and learned a great deal about lighting and giving/receiving direction. I worked as a model for a solid decade, having posed in international publications of Vogue, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolian–and countless ads in the United States, Asia and Europe. I feel extraordinarily privileged, and believe me, there is not a hint of arrogance when I list my credentials. I simply listed them to give you an idea about my background and inspiration.
Here is a video for Metro 7 produced by ImaginAsian TV that highlights one of my last forays in the beautiful world of modeling. It shows a typical day “on set” and gives you an idea of how modeling sparked my love for photography.

Super cool background info Amy, thanks for sharing. You look so gorgeous that I’m surprised you aren’t still modeling in Asia. You amaze me with how driven you are. You obviously didn’t just stand around and wait for your next shot, you took advantage of your environment and learned from it!
Please blog about why you were in India soon, I’m curious.
All I am going to say is that Amy you never cease to impress me…
You are one elegant lady. You look fantastic in front of the camera and considering how great you’re doing behind the camera, I’d say you learned well during your modeling days. And I’m sure there’s plenty of natural talent thrown in there to round things out.
Hi Amy, It’s a nice site you have here. I read your pages too, it all looks great! And I think you’re an amazing lady! I’ll never know how you find the time to juggle all you do. You look pretty graceful & gorgeous at the same time in your video, especially in the white/cream opening numbers. Wishing you a wonderful evening, Craig:) XOX
Thanks, guys! Pete, I feel like India was forever ago, but thanks for that request. I have an entry in mind for travel photography, so I’ll keep you posted! Great suggestion.
Fitz, Mark, you guys rock.
Craig! It’s so nice to hear from you! How are things across the pond?
Is that a Prince song?? Some really nice shots of you in that video…looks like you have a fan base running here.;)
Very Cool! Ive learned just from your video. I love the locals you used. Ive got to try some out-of-studio locals. Hopefully when the weather gets warmer.
Keep up the amazing work Amy!
Noel.
This video was much better than that 1986 film, “Say Anything..”
I give it two thumbs up.
Thanks for the love! It sure sounds like Prince, doesn’t it, Susan? I wouldn’t call these blokes fans; rather, just a couple of buddies shootin’ the shiznickens.
Oh, Ponch de la Raunch…you’re my favorite. LOL
aw. i heart u too
Hi! (This is kind of related to your work on ads across Europe.) I think I saw you today in a newspaper and, as silly as it may sound, it made me smile
I also wanted tell you that I love your work as a photographer. (I’d have commented on some of your photos, but I’ve never gotten around creating a Flickr account
)
Very cool, M.J.! You just gave me an idea for my next blog post.
